DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — Schlarman forward Sydney Gouard helped the Hilltoppers win their first state championship in February, now she’s made her college decision.
Gouard posted on her Twitter page that she is verbally committed to Oakland University, in Michigan. She becomes the second player in the Schlarman class of 2019 to commit to a Division I program, joining Notre Dame commit Anaya Peoples.
Gouard averaged 9.6 points per game to go along with 5.3 rebounds per game in her junior season.
“Definitely it felt like a home there. The coaching staff, they were just so welcoming whenever me and my family came up to visit. They kept everything real, they weren’t saying one thing and then going back on their word,” she said. “It took a lot of hard work, dedication, and definitely some blood, sweat, and tears put into it but it was all worth it in the end.”
She also held offer from Iona and St. Bonaventure.
