CHAMPAIGN (WCIA) — Longtime Central football assistant Tim Turner is finally getting his chance to lead the program and one of his first priorities is keeping things loose.
“It’s fun,” Central senior linebacker Jalen Booker said. “It’s a new environment. It’s more like a fun environment.”
“What I’m trying to do is make sure the kids keep in mind that while, yes, we want to be very good at football, we want to be as good as we can in football, it’s just a game,’ Turner said. “That’s kind of the atmosphere that we have out here. We’re working hard but we’re also having a lot of fun.”
Turner was hired after Nate Albaugh resigned following last season. The Maroons are coming off a 2-7 season, their first game is against Metamora on Aug. 24th. It will mark the first game on the newly renovated Tommy Stewart Field.
