MAROA, Ill. (WCIA) — The Maroa-Forsyth Trojans have made it to state six out of the last nine seasons, but only won one state title in the span.
They finished last season 12-2 with their only regular season loss coming in week three at Williamsville. The Trojans won ten games in a row after that before falling to GCMS in the state championship. Junior Ian Benner returns for his second season at quarterback.
“Anytime our signal caller is back it’s a big deal for us, fortunately for two more years. Last year was some growing pains with him early. By the end of the year he was playing really well,” head coach Josh Jostes said. “He’s carried that into his off-season.”
“They always have us playing our best football late in the year and in November,” cornerback Ty Martin added. “So, this year we’ve got a lot of guys coming back who have been there before and done it. Hopefully that gets us off to the right start.”
Maroa-Forsyth opens the season hosting North Mac on August 24th.
