GCMS kicker, Ben Freehill, signs with Oklahoma State

GIBSON CITY, Ill. (WCIA) — The top kicker in the state of Illinois is headed to the Sooner State. But to play for the Cowboys, not the Sooners.

Freehill signed as a preferred walk-on with Oklahoma State last week. He knew that was the school for him while on his visit to Stillwater last weekend.

“Before we even met with the coaches, me and my mom were just driving around campus at 9 in the morning and just after seeing campus I knew that was that place I wanted to be, just a program that’s as good as them,” Freehill said. “It’s something I couldn’t pass up. After I met with the coaches that pretty much just sealed the deal and I was definitely going that. That was a done deal.”

Freehill joins Tuscola native, Hunter Woodard, with the Cowboys.
