FISHER, Ill. (WCIA) — Coming off their first playoff appearance since the 2013 season, the Fisher Bunnies have their eyes on a deeper run this year.
The Bunnies went 6-3 last season before a first round loss to Freeport Aquin dropped them to 6-4, ending their season. They went 4-1 in the HOIC small school division with their only loss coming to GCMS, who is now in the large school division of the conference. Now their goal is to win the conference championship.
“To make a deep run in the playoffs, and that’s kind of what we’ve talked about is taking that next step, and not being satisfied with just being a team that appears in the playoffs,” head coach Jake Palmer said. “That’s a perception that we have to change with our kids and our community, too.”
“A playoff win, and we definitely want to be conference champs this year,” senior Andrew Zook added. “We lost some athletes last year but we gained a few back, and we have a good running back.”
Fisher hosts Tremont on Friday for their home opener.
