Arcola leaning on senior leadership

ARCOLA, Ill (WCIA) — Coming off a 7-3 season, the Arcola Purple Riders are looking to their senior class to get them back to the playoffs.

Arcola went 4-1 in the LOVC in 2017, before a first round exit in the playoffs. This is year two under Nick Lindsey, and they say it’s time to take the next step.

“It’s night and day from where we were and I’ve been extremely happy with the way the kids have worked and the time and effort that they’ve put in,” Lindsey said. “The most important thing, aside from Xs and Os and bodies is, our senior leadership.”

“I think that mentally we’re pretty strong,” senior Alec Downs added. “We always preach on, I guess our saying is ‘Plus One’, so that’s always having a plus one attitude, always being mentally strong no matter what the circumstances are.”

Arcola opens their season with a Saturday game against South Beloit on August 25th.
