PEORIA, Ill. (WCIA) — The Bradley Braves are back in the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2006. MacArthur grad, and Bradley freshman Armon Brummett is savoring every single second of the ride.
Brummett has played in 23 games for the Braves, scoring 13 points. He’s cherished his role from the bench all season, encouring his teammates and even coming up with a few chants and slogans for the team. He said that his phone has been blowing up with congratulation calls and texts from everyone back in Decatur.
He knows his time is coming, but for now, he’s filling whatever role he needs to keep the Braves season going. That includes supporting his team from the bench. To do so, he brought something from MacArthur to Peoria.
“Coach Derek Spates at MacArthur, the ‘We all we need, we all we got’ chant came from him,” Brummett said. “Where we had those two failling seasons so it was like at the beginning of the season we had a little rough start and people were giving up on us but we was the only ones that believed in ourselves back then and we was the only ones that believed in ourselves now.”
The Braves will find out their NCAA tournament draw on Sunday during the Selection Show on WCIA at 5:00.
