University of Illinois researchers develop drug to battle breast cancer

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — There are not a lot of drugs that help patients with late stage breast cancer, but one drug that University of Illinois researchers helped come up with does.

The drugs works in an entirely different way than most cancer drugs. It shuts down the system the cells take so they do not grow. There was a 100,000 fold shrinkage in breast cancer tumors in mice because of this drug.
