UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS — The UI has some of the most volunteers involved with the Peace Corps. The organization released a list of its top producing colleges and universities.
For the 16th straight year, UI made the cut. It moved up four spots to 16.
Students, like Rob Sarwark, aren’t surprised the university is moving up the list. He spent two years in Cape Verde teaching English. That country is off the coast of West Africa.
Sarwark says he’s not surprised the university continues to be successful. Currently, 35 UI grades are in the Peace Corps. Since the 1960’s, nearly 9,000 residents have volunteered with the agency.
