CHAMPAIGN COUNTY — Three generations of family are back home after walking at the women’s march in Washington this weekend. They made the trip by bus. They drove through the night both ways, but say it was worth being so cramped to enjoy the atmosphere there. The women say they had to keep from crying because of how emotional the march was, but they were especially grateful to be witnessing history together.
“Both my daughters and both my granddaughters were there,” said Nancy Schneider. “That was really neat. I was the last one to come on board. Mary said, ‘Ann’s going and Sophie’s going,’ and I said, ‘they are? I guess I’m going,'”
They say they were proud to be there as women, but also in solidarity for other groups who have felt marginalized and afraid because of the current political situation.
