Students make movie for environmental film fest

CHAMPAIGN — The Prairie Rivers Network is bringing one of the largest environmental film festivals to town as part of its 50th anniversary celebration.

The group works on environmental issues including clean water initiatives and habitat restoration.

It’s hosting the Wild and Scenic Film Festival Tuesday night as a celebration of many years working toward bettering the environment.

The festival will feature a film made by students from Uni High called The Pollution of Our Waterways. The short film was produced for the Smithsonian Traveling Waterways Exhibit.

The kids will be at Tuesday’s premiere, at the Art Theater, to discuss their interest in environmental activism.
