State among lowest for property taxes


ILLINOIS — A new study shows Illinois has the second lowest property taxes in the country. The average rate in the state is just over 2%.

The report shows the median home value in Illinois is more than $175,000 and homeowners pay nearly $4,000 in property taxes. New Jersey has the lowest; Hawaii has the highest.
