Sheriff’s race trial pushed back again

MACON COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — The trial date for the Macon County Sheriff’s race recount has been pushed back.

Officials stated the trial date was originally pushed back to this week, but now it will not happen this month.

Tony Brown was declared the winner over Jim Root in 2018 by one vote. Root contested those results.

The circuit court said they narrowed down some of the contested ballots, but not all of them. They are now looking at court dates in December.
