CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) — Severe weather had people on the lookout Wednesday night.
Areas like Macoupin, Montgomery, Ford and Iroquois counties were issued tornado warnings.
While others were seeing tornado watches.
Officials like the Chris-Montgomery EMA Director, Greg Nimmo, took to social media to make sure people in their community stayed safe. Nimmo said in a Facebook video they were keeping an eye on the sky and Storm Watchers were on stand-by in Christian County.
There are areas that saw damage from strong storms.
Ameren Illinois said they deployed crews to several areas in central Illinois to help communities where the severe weather caused outages.
And Springfield saw over an inch-and-a-half of rain around 5 p.m. Police shut down streets that were flooded. Drains were also filled to capacity.
