VERMILION COUNTY — An on-ramp on I-74 had to be shut down on Monday after a semi trailer caught fire. It happened just east of the Georgetown Road exit. Firefighters were cleaning up the ramp on the westbound side around noon. There were flames coming out of the semi trailer. That area had to be shut down so first responders could work. People who saw the smoke came to check it out.
“I saw the fire from Tilton because I was just in Tilton, over at Toyota, and then I was just walking this way and happened to run into it,” said Stephen Morris, who lives in Danville. “It looks like they know what they’re doing, a pretty good job.”
No word yet on if anyone was hurt. Lynch Area Fire Protection District firefighters are in charge of the investigation.
