ILLINOIS — Some lawmakers argue money raised from the lottery needs to go towards what it was supposed to fund: education.

Those lawmakers dividing the money for the purpose is not being done properly.

Representative La Shawn Ford (D) says the money is being put into the state’s general revenue fund.

Ford is proposing a bill to help put the money back where it’s meant to be.

Last year, the Illinois Lottery raised more than $650 million for education.
