Rauner’s request returned to lower court

ILLINOIS — The State Supreme Court blocked a request from Governor Bruce Rauner to skip the appeals process and bring his case against AFSCME directly to the high court.

Rauner is appealing a lower court ruling which directed him to negotiate with AFSCME.

A statement from the governor’s lawyer stated, “We have gone as far as we can go in negotiations and, our last, best and final offer is all that our taxpayers can afford.”

The union appeal will now proceed to the Fourth District Court of Appeals.
