Power outage sends students home

News

PIATT COUNTY — A power outage caused an early dismissal for some students.

Deland-Weldon released students before lunch after a truck hit a power pole in Cisco. Power was out for 1.5 hours when district leaders decided to send kids home.

One concern was lunch could not be served. Also, the school uses well water and there was a lack of water pressure.

The principal says keeping parents in-the-know is a priority in times like these.

The power was restored before 11 am, but the dismissal had already been scheduled. School resumes Tuesday.
