CHAMPAIGN — Remember the thousands of pounds of pet food you helped donate last week? On Tuesday, we worked to split it all up between ten organizations that help animals in central Illinois. This was all part of our first ever Pounds for Pets event. With upwards of 13,000 pounds worth of dog and cat food, plus kitty litter, there was a lot of heavy lifting going on.
“I’m really excited to see how this ends up benefiting these organizations after today,” said WCIA 3’s Erica Quednau, who put together the event. “Once they pick these up today, I’m excited to see how many animals they can help with it and to keep their organizations going because they do such a great thing.”
People also pitched in more than $11,000 worth of cash donations. You can still add to that. For more information, click here.
