URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — Police responded to a report of a stabbing.
Officers said it happened near the 1300 block of S. Lierman Avenue Tuesday night. Officials said at least two people were stabbed in the abdomen when an argument turned into a fight.
Both victims, a 53-year-old female resident and 52-year-old male resident were taken to the Carle hospital. Police said the female victims condition was serious and required immediate medical attention.
Officials also said further investigation revealed, both victims had been hanging out with other people in the area when they got into an argument. That led to a physical fight with multiple people throwing punches at one another. This is when, Police say, one of them stabbed the victims and ran from the scene.
Officers from the University of Illinois Police Department, the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office, and the Illinois State Police responded to the scene and investigation is ongoing.
