Police investigate bank robbery

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Police were called to a robbery at the First Mid Bank & Trust Wednesday night.

Officers responded to the bank around 4:45 p.m. When they got there, they learned a suspect entered the bank, pulled out a gun, jumped over the counter and demanded money.

The suspect left the bank with an unknown amount of money. Nobody was hurt and there was no evidence of the gun being fired during the robbery.

The Champaign Police Department is interviewing witnesses from the bank and immediate area for more information. If any resident or business in the nearby has exterior surveillance camera systems, please contact the police department.

The suspect is believed to be a male about 5 feet 4 inches tall with a thin build. He was seen wearing light blue jeans, a green and blue colored hooded sweatshirt, gloves, tan boots and a skeleton face mask.
