Plan for homeless shelter gets green light

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — City council members approved a plan for a new homeless shelter tonight.

The vote passed 8 to 2.

The location for the homeless shelter has drawn a lot of controversy, since it is close to a school and a couple of day cares.

Some people did not want it on the city’s east side.
