CHRISTIAN COUNTY — Authorities are investigating a fatal accident. It happened about 8:50 pm, Sunday, near 2180 East 350 North Road in Pana Township.
43-year old Gene Thompson was killed when a car he was riding in flipped and rolled several times. Officials say neither he nor the driver were wearing seat-belts.
The driver, 27-year old Matthew Swisher, was taken to the hospital for his injuries, but immediately transported to a Springfield hospital. He was charged with DUI and improper lane usage.
Investigators anticipate more charges will be filed by the Christian County State’s Attorney.
