CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Champaign police are investigating a shooting that hospitalized a young boy.
A press release from the Champaign Police Department says officers responded to the 2100 block of West White Street for a reported shooting.
When they got to the scene, police found a 14-year-old boy who had been shot several times.
Officers say he was taken to a hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
Investigators say a suspect approached the boy inside an apartment building and started shooting. Seven shell casings were found at the scene, officers say.
No arrests have been made.
Any resident or business in the nearby area with exterior surveillance camera systems is encouraged to notify the police department. It is believed video footage may be of investigative assistance.

ORIGINAL STORY: CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Police are investigating a shooting Wednesday afternoon in west Champaign.
It happened around 12:30 p.m. at Gramercy Park Apartments.
Officers say one person was shot and taken to a local hospital.
