Nursing home worker accused of using deceased resident’s credit card

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — A nursing home worker is accused of using a resident’s credit card after they died.

Police said the victim lived at Fair Havens in Decatur. Detectives said Velma Copeland used the card for about week at several stores–like gas stations and Walmart.

Investigators said the family found out after they saw $1,700 charged to her account.
