Crews investigating vacant house fire

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — The fire department is investigating the cause of a house fire. It happened near the corner of N. Edward and W. North Streets.

The fire broke out around 11 Saturday night at a vacant home.

The department says they controlled it in under 15 minutes.

When they got to the scene, they saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of the house.

The fire chief says no utilities or electricity at the building makes the fire suspicious.

A state fire marshall is helping with the investigation.

This comes after crews put out five fires last week Sunday and four last Monday.
