New campaign addresses human trafficking

News

ILLINOIS — Human trafficking has become a major problem with more than 21 million victims worldwide.

A new digital campaign was launched Monday to prevent the crime in the state.

Electronic billboards will inform the public about statistics and tell victims where they can get help.

The campaign encourages citizens to speak up if they see something unusual because it could save a life.

More than 14,000 people were trafficked in Illinois last year.
