NEWMAN — It’s harvest season; a busy time of year in Central Illinois. But, some Douglas County farmers are taking time to help one of their own.
Dave Young went blind in one eye after a recent accident. The life-long farmer was worried he wouldn’t be able to harvest his fields, but neighbors from around the county stepped up.
They came with their equipment Wednesday morning to get the job done. Young is overwhelmed, not by the workload, but by the support of the AG community.
Young hopes he’s able to work by next harvest season. Farmers with the Douglas County Farm Bureau say they know he would have done the same for any of them.
