CHARLESTON, Ill. (WCIA) — A little boy is doing his part to spread Christmas cheer.
When you pull into the square downtown, this painting might catch your eye. But, this time of year, it’s Henry Guillen’s painting turning heads.
“They’ve been saying I’m a great artist. That’s amazing!”
That could be because, when you see him at work, they can’t believe an 8-year old is the artist. But, it was a compliment two years ago from his 1st grade teacher which got him here.
“She knows I had great talent and she asked me to paint on the square.”
That’s when he first painted Jack Skeleton from The Nightmare Before Christmas.
“They were Christmas-themed and the first one, it was a holiday favorite.”
Last year, it was Charlie Brown. But, with a little help from Mom this year, Scooby Doo might be his favorite.
“My mom actually thought of that idea and I liked that idea and I went with it. I like the detail and I like how it looks.”
Hoping to spread Christmas cheer on the square.
“I feel nice and I feel like I’m really good at my talent.”
Next year, Henry says he hopes he can paint the Grinch.
