CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — State police are releasing more information about what may have happened when a UI wrestler was hit and killed on the interstate. 21-year old Francis Edelen was struck while walking on I-57 last week.
A crash reconstruction team says Edelen may have first been hit by a passenger vehicle, then run over by something bigger, like an SUV, mini-van or pick-up truck.
Authorities say the first vehicle may have front-end damage to the hood, windshield and roof. Officials also say tire marks near the scene show other cars swerved to avoid the crash.
They’d like to speak to anyone who may have information regarding the incident.
