Woman cited for DUI after hitting deputy

EDGAR COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — One woman faces charges of DUI after hitting a sheriff’s deputy’s vehicle. It happened about 2:15, Wednesday, April 17, on Route 16 east of County Road North 1100th.

The driver of a 2016 Ford truck, a 56-year old woman from Kansas, Ill., was turning left into a private driveway and failed to yield to oncoming traffic.

The sheriff’s deputy, a 41-year old man, from Paris, was driving a 2016 Ford SUV and hit the woman’s passenger side when she turned in front of him. The woman’s vehicle was pushed from the roadway into a ditch.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. The deputy was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The woman was cited for DUI and failure to yield.
