URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — It’s the first week for Interim Superintendent Preston Williams, but it’s not his first time in this role.
Williams was previously the superintendent at Urbana from 2007 – 2013. He says the first thing on his list is to find out what’s going on in the schools. He hasn’t been part of the day-in-day-out routine since he left.
He says he understands there are some challenges, but his first priority is the people who are affected the most.
Williams has taken over after the school board chose to replace three people, including Superintendent Don Owen. He says he speaks on behalf of the board, but doesn’t speak for them and has no comment.
