VERMILION COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — A bird has tested positive for West Nile. County health officials say it was found on the north side of Danville. It’s the county’s first positive test this year.
So far, no human cases have been reported locally. Across the state, nearly 40 people have been infected so far this year.
The first West Nile-related death happened last week. In 2016, six people died from the infectious disease.
