Boil order lifted at Urbana City Building

(UPDATE 11:10 p.m. 11/10/21) — Officials said the boil order for the Urbana City Building has been lifted.

They said facilities staff have flushed the faucets and water fountains per the recommended guidelines and the water is now safe for consumption.


(UPDATE 3:30 p.m. 11/09/21) — Illinois American Water has restored water service to the Urbana City Building.

Facilities staff have surveyed the building, stating the restrooms are functioning.

Officials said the facility remains under a boil order for 48 hours or until further notice.

(UPDATE 1:40 p.m. 11/09/21) — Officials said the Urbana City Building is closed for the remainder of the day because a water main break has left the building without water service.

Public safety offices will remain open.

The City’s business offices will be open on Wednesday, according to officials.


URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — Officials just recently announced that the Urbana City Building at 400 South Vine Street will have no water in the building effective immediately for an undetermined time.

There will be no access to public restrooms or water fountains during that time.

Crews with Illinois American Water are working to repair a water main break in the vicinity, according to officials.
