PAXTON, Ill. (WCIA) — A long time radio host is back on the airwaves after a health scare.

Gary McCullough is the owner of WGCY Radio in Gibson City. He was out of commission for about three weeks.

His one goal was to get healthy enough for the first football game against the Paxton-Buckley-Loda Panthers.

He made it back into the box tonight to help out so he’s taking it easy. He says a football game can be a little strenuous compared to playing songs and giving the times and temperatures.

McCullough has been the owner and host of the radio station for the past 35 years. Some even call him the “Voice of the Falcons.” He’s been slowly getting back behind the microphone.

McCullough has been back to work off and on. He says once radio gets in your blood, it’s there. Even though McCullough wasn’t on the mic fully for the game, he was just happy to be there and listening to his son announce the game.
