CHAMPAIGN-URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — Dozens of community leaders met at the library Wednesday for the Champaign Community Coalition’s monthly meeting.
Those attending planned to discuss issues addressed during a special meeting a few weeks ago. They include an increase in weapons and community resources not being used effectively.
Police say C-U has seen an increase in gun crimes this year, compared to the same time last year. Leaders want to continue brainstorming new ideas to help.
Police chiefs talked about cases they’ve opened and closed. There was also a presentation about a program for children and parents in the Champaign School District called CommUniversity.
