ST. JOSEPH, Ill. (WCIA) — Village leaders are looking to the future and thinking about starting construction on some new projects.
Recently, a softball diamond, pavilion, play area and football field were completed. Now, officials are talking about adding even more places for community activities.
Mayor Tame Fruhling-Voges says it’s something they’ve wanted to do for awhile. Someone in the community helped start the conversation again.
Some larger items being considered are a walking path and community building. There could also possibly be a gym and exercise rooms inside. They’re still trying to work out the details.
Mayor Fruhling-Voges says it would be for families, children and seniors. She says, in order for this to work, it has to be a community effort.
A lot more work will need to be done, including fundraising and grants. They’re still in the very early stages. They’ll know more about costs and how to pay for things as planning progresses.
