Victim named in Tuesday night shooting

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Police say one man is dead after a shooting Tuesday night. It happened near the corner of West Vine Street and Elm Street. 

They say they were called to the area around 8:45 pm and found 38-year-old Dondre Moore, who was seriously hurt. He later died at the hospital.

Officers spent hours gathering evidence at the scene. No one has been arrested yet.

Police Seek Assistance in Homicide Investigation, 400 Block of West Vine Street

This evening, at approximately 8:44 p.m., Champaign Police responded to the 400 block of West Vine Street after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, police located a 38-year-old male victim with life-threatening injuries. The victim succumbed to his injuries a short time later at a local hospital.

Champaign Police are processing evidence from the scene and actively working to identify the circumstances leading up to the incident. There is no suspect information available at this time.

Police ask anyone who may have information or who was in the area at the time of the shooting to contact police at 217-351-4545. Champaign Police reminds citizens that information submitted to Crime Stoppers is completely anonymous. Calls are routed to a third-party national call center that receives your information, completes a tips information form, and then passes the information to the appropriate law enforcement agency. Caller ID tracking is not utilized by Crime Stoppers and conversations are not recorded. Crime Stoppers will pay a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for this crime.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — One person was shot Tuesday evening. It happened near a home on the corner of West Vine Street and Elm Street.

The victim’s condition and name haven’t been released.

This is the second shooting in less than 12 hours in Champaign.
