UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS (WCIA) — UI professors and students are expressing concerns about a law professor accused of sexual harassment.

Professor Jay Kesan is accused of making offensive statements and having unwanted physical contact with two former law professors and former student.

Now, the college is offering an alternative class with a different professor for those who don’t feel comfortable taking Kesan’s class. 21-students are enrolled in his course. Three chose to change.

An undergraduate student says he would not want to take a class taught by a professor with those accusations.

Tuesday, 48 UI faculty and administrators distributed a joint release stating students, staff and faculty value a mutually respectful, intellectually challenging and safe community for its members. Professor Jay Kesan’s actions betrayed those values.

The signed faculty are asking the university to change its policies regarding sexual misconduct investigations.
