UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS (WCIA) — Some U of I students will soon have to cough up some more money.
The Board of Trustees set student health insurance premiums at Thursday’s board meeting.
The largest increase comes at the Springfield campus, where premiums will rise 63% to $866 per semester.
The Urbana-Champaign campus is up 20% to $544 for undergrad students.
Officials say the rise is because of enrollment decline in the insurance plan along with an increase in claims.
