ILLINOIS (WCIA) — While applications to become an Illinois State Police (ISP) Trooper are continually accepted by the ISP Merit Board, it’s currently processing applications for a cadet class scheduled to begin in April.

In order to be considered for Cadet Class 129, the Merit Board must receive a completed application and all required documentation by August 15, 2018.

Those interested should visit ISP Merit Board’s website to learn more about becoming a Trooper.

While all ISP Academy graduates are initially assigned to patrol, many eventually transition to specialty functions within the agency including crime scene investigations, SWAT, pilots, K-9 officers and more.
