Trooper recognized

Local News

PAXTON, Ill. (WCIA)– A state trooper is getting special recognition. Legislation that passed the House would name a portion of Illinois 9 after Trooper Marvin C Archer. Archer was killed in 1946 while on duty on East Pells Street.

He and another officer pulled a car over. One of the people in the car shot and killed Archer. Leaders say it’s important to remember history. It already has a sponsor in the Senate. The Senate is expected to come back to work in the Fall.
