COLES COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — People in rural Charleston Township will have to find a new way to dispose of trash. Officials say their pickup program is probably gone for good.
It let people drop trash at specific locations. It started in the 70’s as a way to cut down on illegal dumping when there wasn’t any rural trash pick-up.
But, leaders recently learned the township needs a special permit. Now, officials are urging people to set up regular pick-up instead of dumping illegally.
