EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WCIA) — Teachers spent most of Tuesday in contract negotiations.
They’ve been working without a contract since June 2017. In 2016, they agreed to extend their contract for a year because of the state budget problems.
A federal mediator was brought in in April to help both sides reach an agreement. Since negotiations began, the district and employees have not been able to agree on salaries, health insurance or contract length.
The school board is holding a special meeting Tuesday night, but district leaders say there will not be a vote on a new contract at this time.
