DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — The Decatur School District may not be renewing the contracts of about ten teachers.
The teachers may not be hired next year for several reasons such as not meeting school district standards and not having certification. There was no clarification why all ten could be cut.
Tuesday night, the school board is scheduled to vote whether or not to move forward with the idea. Some parents say they don’t know if letting the teachers go is the best decision.
The names of the teachers will be read aloud at the meeting, so they’ll know if they’re facing possible non-renewal.
A teacher shortage has been reported for the area. The assistant superintendent says it’s still an issue and they are hiring.
