VERMILION COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — A man charged with breaking into an elderly veteran’s home and beating him will be re-evaluated to determine if he’s fit to stand trial.

Tyren Wilson was arrested in April 2016. Investigators say he held an 86-year old victim hostage and pistol-whipped him.

Family members of the victim say he had to get 100 stitches. Wilson was found unfit to stand trial in July.

The victim’s family says they were expecting a trial to start soon, but a judge decided to allow a second mental health fitness evaluation. Wilson will be back in court for a status hearing next year.
