Suspect arrested before victim’s death

DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting.

21-year old Denzel Aldridge was arrested while being questioned about the shooting of 25-year old Roosevelt Anderson, Jr., when authorities learned he had an active IDOC warrant for prior parole violations.

Aldridge is charged with aggravated battery with a firearm in connection to the shooting of Anderson, but Anderson has since died. Any amendment to the charges will be determined by the Vermilion County State’s Attorney.

Anderson was found injured with a gunshot wound to his head about 1:45 pm, Wednesday, in the 900-block of Redden. Witnesses told police there was a fight with several people before the shooting.

Authorities continue investigating to determine the identity of the others involved in the fight prior to the shooting.
