Students scare up sizable supplies for foodbank

UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS-SPRINGFIELD (WCIA) — Nearly 300 UIS students helped collect almost 30,000 pounds of food for the Central Illinois Foodbank.

The collection of 28,946 breaks the previous 2016 record for Trick-or-Treat for Canned Goods weight of 14,085. 17 teams went door-to-door in Springfield and Chatham neighborhoods collecting the food.

Prizes were awarded to teams collecting the most food. Kids in costumes collected 663 pounds of food from on-campus departments.
