UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS-SPRINGFIELD (WCIA) — Students are turning campus into a field of yellow to honor military members.

They’re tying hundreds of yellow ribbons around campus for the upcoming Veterans Day holiday. It’s the seventh year UIS Volunteer & Civic Engagement Center has organized the Tie a Yellow Ribbon campaign.

Everyone is invited to come help hang the festive ribbons. The event is designed to raise awareness about veterans on campus, specifically students, who have served or are serving the country.

UIS will also hold a flag raising Monday, November 12, 9 am, in front of the Public Affairs Center.
