UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS (WCIA) — Protestors at UI say there’s no sign of stopping the GEO strike, despite the provost saying it would end soon.
Union leaders say they’ve been trying to negotiate for more money for almost a year. The co-president of the organization says all they want is to continue the contract which expired in 2009.
He says the second day of the protest brought people from Colorado, Chicago and Rhode Island.
The UI released a statement claiming to have listened to the GEO and making a generous proposal:
We are ready to resume the bargaining process and we hope we will reach an agreement that ends the strike as quickly as possible.
